The Visual Literacy Collaborative is a non-profit subsidiary of the African-Caribbean Institute based in Hanover, NH. Our mission is to develop and present training workshops and undertake digital media production programs that benefit both domestic and overseas individuals and organizations.
We recently trained Dartmouth graduate students preparing to do field research in the challenging environment of Greenland. We are also conducting programs for ecology-based educators and have plans for offering programs for student researchers going abroad, domestic and foreign travelers as well as those who have personal and professional needs and desires to support and enhance their adventures and work.
VLC has developed a dozen workshops that can be combined to offer clients training programs geared to their specific needs. We are also pursuing film/video production programs, including some that could involve collaboration with international and foreign institutions and focused on approaches to problem solving that may have broad pedagogical value.
We are proud of the collaboration we pursue with talented individuals and interested organizations in the education, diplomatic, cultural and environmental fields.
We are guided by an advisory committee representing a variety of perspectives from both within and outside the Dartmouth College community.
