Arts Professionals from Ludwig Foundation of Cuba in Vermont

Staff from the Visual Literacy Collaborative (VLC) hosted three interns from the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba in Havana during their month-long visit in October 2011. The interns were sponsored by the Burlington-based Vermont Caribbean Institute (VCI).

According to the VCI web site: “These young arts professionals will be in Vermont throughout the month to explore Vermont’s community-based arts initiatives – models of participatory programs that engage communities in the creation and preservation of our unique cultural heritage. Trained in arts education, filmmaking, and computer engineering they are involved in some of the most innovative arts programming in Cuba today, including the Digital Clone Program at Ludwig Foundation.”

The Cubans met with Vermonters from across the state to talk about their work and vision for the “social development of the arts in Cuba, and the mission of Ludwig Foundation to protect and promote emerging Cuban artists.”

This was the first of what is hoped to be regular visits by interns from the Ludwig Foundation in Cuba to Vermont.
